Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Hyundai has launched a new version of their best-selling coupe, the Genesis Coupe. Although its name has no relation to the first book in the Bible it was actually named after it bigger four door luxury saloon called, you guessed it, the Genesis. 

SPORTY DESIGN

It looks different compared to its bigger sister thanks to numerous design tweaks. Its redesigned front fascia, grille, headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lights and hood with heat extractors emphasize its sportiness. Its xenon headlights now have better illumination intensity, with a more daylight-like lighting character and reduced power consumption. The car automatically dims the headlight to prevent blinding of oncoming traffic.  Enlarged openings in the front fascia allow for better engine breathing along with a more aggressive look. 

Rear design

The side view reveals new, aggressive 18 and 19 inch alloy wheel. Finally, the rear taillights provide a visual spark via LED illumination and they too have also been redesigned. It has however not lost it usual coupe character consisting of a long wheelbase and short front and rear extensions. For that reason it still has the same classic wedge-like profile that cements it sporting character. It also has the arching roofline and a large rear spoiler that helps it cut through air with ease. There are also dual exhaust tips integrated with the blackout rear diffuser. 

Infotainment system

TUNED POWER PLANTS

Behind the huge air intakes are a choice of two engines. The first one is a 3.8-liter Lambda DOHC directed injected V6 engine. The engine generates over 300hp. 0 to 100km/h is taken care of in less than 5 seconds and it has a limited top speed of 250km/h. Its engine noise has also been tuned to ensure that the noise it makes matches its sporty character.

Next, there is a turbocharged, intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine. Although it’s less powerful compared to its bigger sister, it still has the figures to prove that it’s a sports engine as well. It generates 274 horsepower and can do over 200km/h without breaking a sweat. It too has a tuned exhaust system just like it bigger sister. Both engines are mated to standard six-speed manual transmission system as standard.

However Hyundai also provide an eight-speed automatic transmission system with paddle-shift that offers manual-shifting capability. All the power from both engines is sent to the rear wheels thanks an all new power management system. The suspension has also been tuned to handle the power from the engine and it also ensures that its huge tires remain stuck to the surface.

Lastly the suspension also ensures perfect handling when cornering or drifting on the tarmac thanks to an all new traction control system. It also comes with powerful Brembo brakes that are fade-resistant that give the car amazing stopping power. 

LUSCIOUS INTERIOR

The interior has also been restyled providing a pleasant driving environment for the driver and the passenger. Although it has seats in the back, they are more suited for children as there is practically no room enough for an adult to fit in. The front seats are can be adjusted electronically to provide a comfortable seating position.

In the 3.8 litre engine model, Leather covers the dashboard, seats, gear knob and the steering wheel.

Best seats in the house

It also has dials that show it fuel consumption, turbo pressure and the power going to the wheel. It also has a large boot space that can be further increased by folding down the rear seats. An Infinity premium audio system with six speakers and large subwoofer provides top class entertainment to occupants. It also comes with input jacks such as the 3.5 mm mini-jack and USB input. 

Cockpit

When an iPod or flash drive is connected through the USB port in the centre storage compartment it not only plays music through the vehicle's audio system, but it also charges the iPod and allows the driver to access tracks with the steering wheel audio controls.

More rear space thanks to folder rear seats

This system also allows both driver and passengers to easily view song/artist/title information and control the music from the audio head unit rather than the iPod unit. This safety oriented function allows the driver to keep his or her focus on the road at all times.

There is no doubt that the Hyundai Genesis is still a fast, practical and comfortable car just like its four door sister.
