The all-new Range Sport is designed to capture the distinctive DNA of its predecessor. Although it was developed alongside the new Range Rover, the all-new Range Sport benefits from 75 percent unique parts.
All-New Range Sport
These have a direct influence on the way the new Range Sport looks and feels. The all-new Range Sport is 45kg lighter than the new Range Rover. The all-new Range Sport is also 62mm longer than its predecessor. At 4850mm, it is shorter than most 7-seater SUVs and saloons. This gives it greater manoeuvrability and makes it easier to park.

Front appeal


Bold design
The dynamic new Range Sport has a bold and progressive exterior design. At the front are large outboard air intakes and bold trapezoidal shapes housing the central bumper beams. The Range Rover’s new design cues include the signature clamshell bonnet, floating roof and side fender vents. The SUV incorporates new versions of the powerful wheel arch graphic and horizontal body feature lines, which are visible on the outgoing model.
Heavily influenced by the Range Rover
The front end has a more modern, streamlined appearance, with its slimmer lights, rearward sloping grille and more sculpted corners. At the rear, the lamps have a more compact treatment with a striking new design that uses LED technology. The main tail and stop lamps echo the headlamps' distinctive design language. A stunning range of factory fitted alloy wheels from 19- to 22-inches are available for the first time across all Range Rover models.

Enhanced power
            Under the Range Sport’s bonnet is a selection of V6 and V8 power units. New to the Range Sport line-up is a 250kW (335hp) 3.0-litre V6supercharged petrol engine. The new engine has been engineered to deliver generous torque throughout the rev range. The power unit delivers confident performance with outstanding refinement. The 3.0-litre V6 fire plant accelerates the Sport from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds. Enthusiastic drivers are kept happy with the attractive sporting note from the V6 power plant. The new engine is equipped with an advanced intelligent Stop/Start system.
Comfortable front seats
The powerful 380kW (510hp) 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine retains its place at the performance pinnacle of the Range Sport line-up. The engine has been excessively tuned to accelerate the SUV from 0 to 100km/h in 5.0 seconds.
Now a seven seater
For the first time ever the engine is fitted with a stop start system. The soundtrack from the engine has also been tuned to offer a richer tone. All petrol and diesel engines in the new Range Sport are paired with the advanced electronically controlled ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic gearbox. The automatic transmission has been excessively tuned to offer smooth shifting and rapid response. The gearbox is operated by a vertical gear shifter or steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifters.

Improved Safety
            The new Range Sport has been engineered with a powerful all-disc braking system for confident stopping in all conditions. Powerful versions get six-piston lightweight Brembo front callipers for enhanced performance and reduced weight. Stopping power of the new Sport is complemented by a comprehensive suite of active safety technologies, designed to enhance braking, stability and traction. They are Hill Descent Control (HDC), Gradient Release Control (GRC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), and Roll Stability Control (RSC).

Luxurious interior
The luxurious leather-trimmed cabin is incorporated with the latest interior technologies. The centre console is mounted higher, positioning the controls closer to the driver. The sporting theme is reflected by the smaller diameter, thicker rimmed steering wheel. A state-of-the-art 12.3-inch high-resolution screen, located behind the steering wheel, displays the instrument dials.
Redesigned steering
This is accompanied by an 8-inch high-resolution touch screen display on the centre console.The increased wheelbase provides for a more spacious interior with seating for up to seven occupants. Top of the line Range Sport models have 14-way power adjustable front seats with adjustable bolsters and winged headrests. Rear seats have adjustable recline and climate control. The seats can split either 60/40 or 40/20/40.
Profile
The optional third row seats have power operation as standard. They can be raised/lowered electrically using controls mounted on either side of the cabin and within the boot. The luggage compartment is accessed via a power operated single tailgate. A full-size sliding panoramic glass roof creates a sensation of space and light for all occupants. Hands free, Bluetooth streaming, USB connectivity and rear screen entertainment are available as well.

Verdict
With the all-new Range Sport, Land Rover can now attest that it is different from its bigger Range Rover sibling. Land Rover has done a great job of making it feel genuinely sporty, and the excellent engines and ride comfort also ensure that it has all the qualities you’re expect from Range Rover.
