Peugeot 508 RXH

After the recent debut of the 508 Sedan and Sport Wagon, French car manufacturer Peugeot have added another amazing car to their 508 range. The new 508 RXH is an up market luxury wagon with ‘go-anywhere’ capabilities.  

Peugeot 508 RXH

 The new Peugeot 508 RXH is based on the 508 SW but it has distinct styling characteristics that make it stand out from its two siblings. The RXH is 40mm wider and 50 mm taller compared to its SW sister. At the front end it has a restyled grill that extends to the lower edges of the front. Daytime LED running lights are arranged neatly at the side to form a ‘lion claws’.

Rear design

Above them are powerful xenon headlamps which offer amazing illumination at night. Beside the headlamps are seven orange LED’s that function as the directional indicators. The bonnet has distinctive lines that seem to originate from the majestic lion logo on the bonnet. The lines not only give the front a stylish look but also help to enhance the aggressive look of the front as well.

Side profile with Satin Stealth Grey body extensions

The side profile is characterized by bodywork extensions painted in satin stealth grey. The extensions are visible all-round the lower body of the car. They are also visible on the bottom of the front, rear bumper and the car’s massive wheel arches. At each side of the extensions are satin chrome inserts with 'HYbrid4' badges.

The car rides on new distinctively styled18-inch forged wheels. On its roof are aluminum roof bars that adorn each end of the roof. In between them is an extensive panoramic glass roof that looks like a continuation of the large front windscreen. At the rear, LEDs give an elegant red band that glows brightly when the lights are on. The satin stealth grey body extension at the back has chrome inserts that give the rear a posh look.

The RXH has an innovative powertrain that combines diesel, electric motors and 4WD system. This ensures that it has capable handling on the roads, quiet operation at low speeds, freedom to travel on any roads and amazing fuel efficiency. It comes with a 2.0 litre HDi FAP diesel engine with an output of 163hp that works with a 37hp electric motor.

The result is a 200hp and 450Nm of torque that is delivered to the four wheels. The car will only need 4 litres of fuel to cover a distance of 100 kilometers. The driver can choose between four driving modes. There is Zero Emission Vehicle, 4WD, Sport and Auto. In each mode, the battery is charged automatically. 

Powerful Xenon headlamps

Inside the RXH comes equipped with a distinctively styled interior. Brushed aluminium and shaded lacquers adorn the each corner of the dashboard. At the center console is a mode selection knob and the gear selector lever.

Large panoramic roof

It has the design that combines the traditional gear selector lever and a computer mouse called the 'manettino' that lets the driver operate the instrument display at the center. White backlighting is available throughout the interior while natural materials and colours help to enhance its feel even further. Light-coloured alcantara leather and a laser-printed fabric create two-tone upholstery that reinforces the refined image of the car. Depending on preference, a customer may opt for full leather or half-leather upholstery. It has room for five occupants who benefit from its impressive head and leg room both at the front and the back.

18-inch forged wheels

The large boot not only has a capacity of 423 litres but is also rectangular in shape makes it easier to carry large box shaped items. The rear tailgate can be opened and closed automatically at the touch of a button. Under its flat flow are numerous storage compartments that can be used to carry smaller items. The rear seats can also fold down to further increase the storage area. 

Refined cockpit

The Peugeot 508 RXH is offered in a single trim finish, generously-equipped, in accordance with its distinctive high-end positioning. All of the high-tech equipment available either as standard or as an option accentuates its exclusive character. Such equipment includes Colour Head Up Display (that includes the display of the navigation system information), main beam head lamps assistance, automatic electric parking brake, JBL hi-fi stereo, Peugeot Connect SOS and Assistance and Xenon lights.

The ‘go-anywhere’ executive saloon from Peugeot not only sets it apart from other executive saloons but also rewards in terms of practicality and fuel efficiency. The Peugeot 508 RXH is price at $ 56,192 (Kshs 5 million excluding taxes)
