Bugatti Veyron Vitesse |
The Bugatti Veyron has been with us for close to seven years now. It’s amazing top speed, engine output, design and luxury make it one of the most sought after cars in the world. It’s not a surprise that after the world record breaker, the Super Sports, was released customers requested Bugatti to deliver an open-top version of the Super Sports.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport |
Bugatti has headed to their request and has launched a powerful version of their open top version, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. The Veyron Grand Sport was an open top version of the Bugatti Veyron. The new Vitesse has numerous aerodynamic features adopted from the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports. The front end has similar large air intakes found in the Super Sports. Each of the large front air intakes located at the left and right has a horizontal bar that separates them into two.

They not only help to channel air to the engine but also work as the anti-roll protection system. The Vitesse also comes with the amazing rear spoiler that also functions as an air brake. As with the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports, the new Vitesse body is made of clear-coated carbon fibre.

Behind the driver is Bugatti’s legendary 8.0 litre W16 engine. The engine has an output of 1,200hp and an impressive 1,500Nm of torque. That’s nearly 200hp more than the Grand Sport. 0 to 100km/h takes 2.6 seconds while top speed is an impressive 410km/h. However for safety reasons the top speed is electronically limited, to 375km/h.
Bugatti Veyron Vitesse Jet Grey Version |
The engine is married to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). The improved performance is as a result of using larger turbochargers and a new improved fuel system adopted from the Super Sports. The Vitesse also comes with an improved chassis.

It comes with dampers adopted from racing cars to ensure smooth vehicle control and great vehicle balance. The incorporation of an all-wheel drive set up further improves it handling capabilities. The all-well drive intelligently distributes power to each wheel at any given time while Electronic Stability Program ensures that the wheels do not misbehave when on the road.

A similar Super Sport braking system has been adopted to offer faster deceleration time. One can cruise comfortably with the roof down to speeds up to 200km/h.

The two-tone leather seat covers are enhanced by contrasting stitching between the seat base and the side sections. Contrasting stitching is also featured on the leather armrest between the seats. The upper part of the body is finished in ‘Blue Carbon’ while the roof and air scoop have a ‘Lake Blue’ color. The lower body panels, spoiler and wheel rims are finished in ‘Light Blue Sport’ paint. The same is repeated in the interior. Large surfaces have darker blue tones while a new ‘Light Blue’ stitching is used for contrasting stitching and also for the Vitesse labeling on the seats. This Vitesse version is priced at €1.91 million (Kshs. 201 million)
Specialy designed Vitesse seats |
The second version on offer has the classic Grand Sport design. It has a visible carbon fiber with a brownish finish. It has a transparent glow that allows the carbon fiber skin to radiate vibrantly when exposed to light. The front lid, rear end, front spoiler and side skirting are painted in the new Brown color. They sparkle in an almost bronze shade depending on the way they are exposed to light. To contrast the carbon fiber look, the side panels and rear air intakes are made of aluminum. The interior features a ‘Gaucho’ colored leather and a dark brown ‘Coffee’ contrast stitching. To own this Version one has to part with €1.79 million (Kshs. 197 million)

The last version is the Jet Grey version. Instead of having two different colors it has shinny areas that interact with matte surfaces. The front lid, roof and air scoop have a shiny surface while the rest of the body surfaces are painted in matte. The front grill and wheel rims are painted in black. The underside of the rear spoiler is painted in orange to match the ‘Tangerine’ on various parts of the interior.
