The most important super car list is out. As expected there has been a slight change in the list but some of the old contenders have still stuck to the list. To be on this list, super cars have to accomplish a couple of requirements. One is an amazing top speed had that to have been verified. Mare speculations on paper were not allowed. Number two, they were expected to be production cars and not concepts and three; they had to be the most aggressive and meanest cars on the planet. It’s now my pleasure to introduce you to the 11 most powerful production cars on the planet.

Jaguar XJ 220

Number 11 on the list is an amazing car from Jaguar. Launched back in 1992 the $650,000 (Kshs. 56 million) machine can accelerate to a top speed of 350km/h. It had a V6 that produced 524hp and could accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Although she is an old girl now, the XJ220 has got what it takes to be one of the fastest cars on the planet.

Also in number 11 is the rear Zonda Cinque Roadster. This carbon fibre beauty can do 350km/h thanks to a twin turbocharged AMG V12 engine that give out an amazing 678hp.

Although one had to pay a whopping $1,850,000 (Kshs. 158 million) this baby is guaranteed to satisfy any driver on the wheel.

Next to the Cinque on the number 11 podium is the most dynamic car Ferrari has ever made. When it came out back in 2002 it was one of the most exclusive Ferrari one could ever own.

Owners were vetted and selected before buying each of the 400 copies made. They had to cough out $670,000 (Kshs. 56 million) in order to enjoy the power from the 660hp V12 aluminium engine. It was such an astonishing car that Ferrari named it after their founder Mr Enzo Ferrari.

Number 10 on the list is the rare Ascari A10. It first saw light in 2007. This British sports car can accelerate from 0-to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds. Its BMW engine has 625hp and one would need to pay $650,000 (Kshs. 55 million) to own this amazing car. Top speed is at pegged at 354km/h.

Next on the list is another classic from Britain. It’s described as the most astonishing Aston Martin ever made. Only 77 were made. As a result it was named the Aston One-77.

The last beast on the number 10 list hails from Sant'agata Bolognese. Just like its previous ancestors, it gets its name from a bull. Behind its sleek drivers seats is a V12 700hp naturally aspirated engine that can do, you guessed it 354km/h.

Number 9 podium is decorated by Germany’s Gumpert Apollo S. Although the designers through away the aspect of beauty, they ensured that each and every angle of the so called ugly looks is tailor-made to ensure maximum down force on the road.

Its 4.2 litre V8 engine gives out 650hp that can take this one of a kind super car to a top speed of 362km/h. $450,000 (Kshs. 38 million) is all you need to have the Gumpert in your garage. We are heading back to Britain to meet the next occupant of the Number 9 podium.

Noble M600

If there is a calm and polite looking sports car on the market, it has to be the Noble M600. However before one starts under sizing its looks, the Noble will surprise them with its 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.7 seconds. Just like the Gumpert the Noble can comfortably do 362km/h. The price for this calm looking sports car is $330,000 (Kshs. 28 million)

Moving on to Number 8 we meet one of the newest supercars in the planet. Before I hear complain about racing heritage and history let me give you it’s incredible performance figures.

First Danish super car

The Zenvo STI from Denmark can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds. The 1,104hp V8 engine will guarantee the driver a top speed of 375km/h.

They Danish creators quote its price at $1,225,000 (Kshs. 104 million) and will only make 15 copies of this STI lightning. Number 7 is reserved to an all-time favorite super car. When it came out in 1993 no expected that it could do 386km/h.

McLaren F1

It blew the top speed record set by the XJ220 and stayed in number 1 till the end of the 20^th Century. It’s an impressive speed considering it had only 627hp from a BMW V12. That amazing BMW engine makes the McLaren the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world.

Now is that a car worth paying $970,000 (Kshs. 82 million) ? I think so. O to 100km in the F1 takes only 3.2 seconds.

On the Number 6 podium sits one of Christian Von Koenigsegg creation, the Koenigsegg CCX. This unique super car can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

Its 8litre engine, that could run on both regular and biodiesel fuels, could accelerate its carbon fibre body to a top speed of 394km/h. The price for the CCX is $545,568. (Kshs. 46 million)

Saleen S7

Saleen S7 from America takes the Number 5 podium. This amazing twin-turbo sports car can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds. The engine also propelled its long low body to a top speed of 400km/h. This American creation is priced at $555,000 (Kshs. 47 million) and has 750 hp.

Number 4 podium goes to the Bugatti Veyron. Its 1001hp W16 engine would accelerate it from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds.

It had a difficult creation full of criticism and doubts about its capability of producing 1000hp. However in 2005 it proved critics wrong by achieving a top speed of 408km/h. It’s one of the most historic cars ever made.

It was priced at $1,700,000 (Kshs. 144 million) making it one of the most expensive production cars at its launch date. Production of the Veyron ended in 2011. Number 3 on the list is a super car from America that took the crown from the Veyron. It’s called the Shelby Super Cars Ultimate Aero.

Just as its name, it had a long body that was wide as well. It has a V8 twin turbo engine that produce 1183hp. It beat the Veyron by clocking a top speed of 413km/h in 2007.

The SSC Ultimate Aero was priced at $654,400(Kshs. 55 million). It’s one of the favourite all time American Super Cars.

9ff GT9-R

A German tuned Porsche shares the podium with the Ultimate Aero. 9ff GT9-R is based on the Porsche 911 and has an amazing 1120hp.

The power comes from a V6 twin-turbo engine that can accelerate it from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds. The 911 on steroids is available for a price of $695,000 (Kshs. 60 million) and only 20 units will be produced. Zooming on to the Number 2 position is the all new Koenigsegg Agera R another creation from Mr Christian Von Koenigsegg.

This white lightning from Sweden can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds. Its massive 5.0litre V8 engine can produce an amazing 1099hp and can accelerate it to a top speed of 418km/h.

It has a host of pioneering technology and plenty of high-tech gadgets installed. Prices start at $1,600,000 (Kshs. 136 million). It’s a beauty to behold and that’s a fact.

Hennesey Venom GT

Another amazing super car from America sits gracefully on the number 2 podium. Although one might say it looks like a Lotus Elise, which is the car it’s based on, this car has the power that can make other sports car crumble in pieces at the sight of it zooming past. A heavily tuned 6.2litre LS9 Turbocharged V8 produces an amazing 1200hp. 0 to 100km/h takes just 2.5 seconds and has a confirm top speed of 418km/h.

However Mr John Hennessey believes that it can do 442km/h. With such impressive acceleration and horsepower figures this amazing car has what it takes to do that insane top speed of 442km/h. Let’s just wait and see if the figures will become reality.

The mighty French named, German designed and VW owned Bugatti Veyron Super Sports takes the number one podium. Bugatti took the crown from SSC in 2010.

World Record breaker edition

The average speed of 431km/h was verified by the Guinness Book of Records officials making it the fastest production vehicle on the market today. However its top speed on the consistent models was lowered to 415km/h for safety reason.
