The people’s car is back after a long absence from the motoring scene boasting of unique features and amazing new looks. If you are one of the small car hatters this is a car that will definitely warm the depth of your heart.

VW Beetle |
So what have they engineers at VW done? Well the beetle still holds its original design but the designers have played around with the original shape to come up with a bolder, more dynamic, more masculine design as compared to the old beetle. To sum the design, it’s clean, self-confident and dominant sportiness. |
Sporty and compact |
The car not only has a lower profile but it is also substantially wider. The front bonnet is longer; the front windscreen is shifted further back and has a much steeper incline. |
Still retains its original design |
The new car is 1,808 mm wide (84 mm wider), 1,486 mm tall (12 mm lower) and 4,278 mm long (152 mm longer) as compared to the previous model. |
Wider compared to the previous model |
This has resulted in entirely new proportions. The gain in length meant that the roof could be extended further, the front windscreen could be shifted back, and the rear section could follow the contour of the original Beetle. |
Front cockpit |
To sum it up, the development team increased the car's track widths and wheelbase. All of cosmetic changes have resulted to the VW Beetle powerful and muscular appearance, phew! |
State of the art entertainment system |
Enough about the exterior features, the real question is have VW achieved what their forefathers did before? I believe they have outdone them. It now has a more fuel efficient engine that is well cooled and as standard is placed at the back. |
Its small heart |
The good news is that the beetle will be available with a turbodiesel engine. The 2.0 TDI (turbo diesel injection) produce a whooping 200bhp. |
Beetle action |
Married to it will be a six speed manual gear box. One can also choose from a dual clutch six speed automatic gear box. |
Interior colors that match with the exterior color |
This amazing engine can take this cute baby to a top speed of 200km/h. In terms of fuel consumption is 7.4 liters per 100 km. I can see a smile forming in someone’s face. The news even gets better. |
Rear tail lamps |
One can choose between three different designs; "Beetle", "Design" and "Sport". Each will emphasize certain aspects of the beetle. This will also allow customers to choose optional features that will be added in the final product. |
Front headlamps |
They key features however in the entire three models range are Bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights. The 15 LEDs frame the xenon module on the outer perimeters of the headlights. They act as the daytime running lights and parking lights. |
Huge doors for easy access |
A transparent panoramic roof that can be tilted or opened, which allows one to enjoy the sun light while driving. Incidentally, the insulating glass blocks 99 percent of UV radiation and 92 percent of heat energy reducing skin cancer threats. It also helps keep the interior cool.
|
Comfortable seats |
There is also a huge Radio, CD, and DVD unit. It also doubles up as a navigation system. The whole set consists of eight speakers, 6.5 inch screen and a 30GB hard disc. All this keep the passengers entertained while in the beetle. |
Restyled and modern interior |
One can also choose a premium system that consists of illuminated speakers and an additional 400 watts subwoofer. The car also comes with Keyless entry which is operated without the ignition key. |
Rear spoiler |
When one of the front door handles is touched, the system detects access authorization from a transmitter carried in the person's jacket, trousers or hand bag; it then unlocks the Beetle and enables an engine start via the engine start button. Locking of the Volkswagen is from the outside, also activated by touching one of the two door handles. |
Classy rims |
Open the two cute doors and you will be treated to an amazing sight only found in the beetle. It leaves the driver with a long lasting impression of the marvelous cockpit design. |
Instrument cluster |
The shape and use of color in the painted or carbon-look front dashboard panel echoes the old design of the first VW Beetle. |
Gear knob |
Three round instruments arranged in front of the driver (tachometer, speedometer, and fuel gauge) provide all key information. At the center of each dial is a multifunction screen that provides even more information to the driver. |
Curvy rear |
Four people can enjoy the fantastic ride from this cute car. It can even accommodate tall person thanks to its high roof. People will also enjoy enough storage space as it has now been extended to 310 liters from the previous 209 liters. |
Enough storage space in the boot |
Whether or not it will grace Kenyan shores is still unknown. But if it does, it will be frankly the cutest little car in Kenya.
